He was born in Shanghai, China, married Ting Chen in 1968 and has three grown daughters and a few grand children also. He got his MS and was a Ph D candidate in applied Physics at Cornell University, he also earned his MA & Th.M from ITS, California and Ph D in Systematic Theology from University of Wales, UK. He received Christ as his personal savior in the year 1967 and answered God’s call for full time ministry in the year 1972. He founded a church in Southern California and was the senior pastor of the church till 1996. He produced broadcasting programs with Far East Broadcasting company – Chinese Ministries in 1991, reaching audience in China until 2004, he hosted Thinking with You, a local (L.A. Area) Christian radio program in 1992 until 1995. He joined ITS in 2004 as adjunct Professor and became the first president of Chinese International Theological Seminary in 2008. He also published 6 books in Chinese on Biblical exposition.
He joined IFCBC as Interim Pastor in June 2010 and is now giving leadership to IFCBC as an associate Pastor. His passion is to train lay people as bi-vocational leaders who are trained to teach the word of God and serve the local church in different capacities. Under his leadership we started a program called the Nehemiah Project in partnership with IBS which is designed to give lay members of the church an opportunity to equip and train for ministry. He and his wife Ting love outdoor activities and are very involved in our church programs both for the Chinese congregation and for Grace Haven.
